Below is a screenshot of an article I shared on WhatsApp on February 27, 2023.
A severe drought and heatwaves in early 2023 caused water stress and rationing in several Chinese cities and provinces like Yunnan Province, Sichuan Province etc where several counties and prefectures, including Liangshan, placed emergency caps on domestic water usage, with some local utilities urging residents to limit showering to a few times a month (google search).
In Europe, we witnessed the drying up of the canals in the city of Venice.
In South America, the Panama Canal dried up.
This drought has grown since and its impact will be more severe in 2026, with the exception of Africa, Australia, and the Middle East. More details in the days ahead.
